Ilidža Spa, Sanski Most
Located in the gentle valley of the Sana River, just 13 kilometers from Sanski Most, Sanska Ilidža represents a huge but still underused potential. Although it has exceptionally warm and healing springs that, according to analyses, are effective even in the most severe forms of rheumatism, this spa has gone through a difficult privatization process. Today, the site has outdoor pools and accommodation facilities under construction, offering visitors perfect peace in an environment of forests and the sound of flowing water.
The use of thermal waters in our region dates back to the ancient Romans, who built the first baths for the recovery of their legionaries two thousand years ago. With the arrival of the Ottomans, these warm springs came to be called ilidže (from the Turkish word iladž – remedy), while experts from the Austro-Hungarian period were the first to scientifically confirm what people had known for centuries: Bosnian waters are exceptionally healing. Today, former folk healing resorts have grown into modern wellness and spa centers, such as the well-known Ilidža spa near Sarajevo, Fojnica, or Banja Vrućica, which have become pillars of the tourism industry and essential stops for rehabilitation and relaxation.
