Balaguša Mosque
Balaguša Mosque, also known as the Bali-aga Ljubunčić Mosque or the Bazaar Mosque, is located in the old center of Livno, in the area of Stara čaršija, after which it got its recognizable name. This mosque is among the oldest domed religious buildings in the city, and it is believed to have been built between 1530 and 1550.
Its architecture belongs to the Ottoman type of single-space mosques with a porch covered by small domes. It was built of finely worked limestone, while the interior is marked by rich decoration and harmonious proportions. A special detail is the inscription on the mosque, which carries a prayer for the benefactor and the faithful, emphasizing its spiritual significance.
As a valuable example of Ottoman architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Balaguša Mosque has been declared a national monument and is now protected by the state, preserving the authentic spirit of Livno's old bazaar and its historical identity.
