“Vexhi Buharaja” Library

The “Vexhi Buharaja” library was built in 1973 in the city center and bears the name of the prominent scholar and poet, Vexhi Buharaja. It preserves a large collection of 12,229 titles and 63,516 copies, where books in Albanian constitute a significant part (2,716 titles, 42,176 copies), while the funds in foreign languages include 9,200 titles with 13,740 copies. The library also offers a rich archive of periodicals — 193 titles and 5,100 issues in Albanian, and 120 titles with 2,500 issues in foreign languages. After the reconstruction in 2016, the premises and the archive were furnished and equipped with a fire protection system thanks to the support of TAP, which made it possible to reopen and fully operate the library for the public.
