About This Landmark

Sultan Ahmed Mosque – Careva Mosque

The Imperial Mosque, located in the Old Town on the right bank of the Trebišnjica River, is one of the important monuments of Islamic architecture in Trebinje. The mosque was built by Osman-paša Resulbegović in the name of Sultan Ahmed III, which is why it is also known as the Imperial Mosque.

According to documents from the Historical Archive in Dubrovnik, it was built in 1719 by Dubrovnik masters from carefully cut stone. The building is characterized by a four-sided roof covered with tiles, which gives the mosque its recognizable appearance and blends harmoniously into the atmosphere of the Old Town.
