Church of St. George

In the heart of the Derventa area rises the Roman Catholic church Crkva Svetog Juraja Mučenika, a masterpiece of modern reinforced-concrete architecture. Built in 2011 on the foundations of a demolished sanctuary, it bridges the past and the present.

The interior is breathtaking: it features the largest altarpiece in BiH, proudly depicting the local people in traditional costumes. Along with 12 Stations of the Cross and statues of saints, a special gem is the baptismal font from 1882, a silent witness to its endurance. This church is not only a religious building, but also a symbol of an indomitable spirit and faith that is well worth visiting.
