About This Landmark

Church of Saint Clement in Mostaći

The Church of Saint Clement, known locally as Klimentica, is a typical Mediterranean medieval church built of stone. It is located on the right bank of the Trebišnjica River, in the village of Mostaći, and is considered one of the oldest churches in the Trebinje area and the surrounding region. The church's special value lies in its frescoes, which cover almost all of the interior walls from top to bottom.

This rich decoration, together with the frescoes in other important churches from the period of Ottoman rule in this region, has great cultural and historical value and stands as an important testimony to the art, faith, and life of Herzegovina through the centuries.
