Boljuni – Necropolis of stećak tombstones

The Boljuni stećci necropolis is located in the hamlet of Boljuni, part of the village of Bjelojevići, about 15 km southwest of Stolac, along the road to Hutovo Blato. This medieval site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016, together with 27 other stećci necropolises from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Croatia. Boljuni is also a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The necropolis is located on a plain below the village houses, arranged in two groups about 400 meters apart, and consists of 274 stećci, 92 of which are richly decorated with relief motifs such as rosettes, swords, vines, and figural scenes.
