Medija Castle
Ruins near Laško.
A brewing and thermal town on the Savinja, home of Slovenia’s best-known beer.
Laško is where Slovenia’s most recognisable beer has been brewed since 1825, and the brewery runs tours and a large July beer and flowers festival. The town also has thermal baths fed by springs known since Roman times, and Tačen castle above it. It is fifteen minutes from Celje and makes a straightforward, unpretentious thermal stop on the eastern route.
