Local History Ethno Museum
Founded in 2010, the Local Ethno Collection in Jajce is a precious treasury preserving the spirit, tradition, and customs of life in this royal city. Through a rich array of exhibited items, the collection offers insight into the shared Balkan cultural heritage, bringing together Catholic, Orthodox, and Islamic folk costumes in a unique mosaic of the Jajce region. From religious books and documents of musical tradition to the central space filled with metal and clay vessels, every exhibit tells a story of craftsmanship, agriculture, and everyday life that unfolded for centuries in the valleys of the Pliva and Vrbas rivers.
A special gem of the collection is an authentic Bosnian town room from the turn of the 20th century, which faithfully depicts the culture of living and the refined interior of the urban population of that time. At its center stands a loom, a silent witness to a period when skill and patience were turned into beautiful woolen carpets with recognizable Bosnian motifs. A visit to this collection is not only an educational experience, but also an emotional journey through the intimate lives of generations that shaped the identity of Jajce, leaving us a legacy of values that are still deeply respected today.
