About This Landmark

AVNOJ Museum

The Museum of the Second AVNOJ Session in Jajce is one of the most significant historical institutions in BiH and one of the most visited museums in the country. It is housed in the former Sokol House of 1934, on the right bank of the Pliva, close to the famous waterfall. In this hall, on 29 and 30 November 1943, the Second Session of the Anti-Fascist Council of the National Liberation of Yugoslavia was held, with 142 delegates.

The interior has been carefully reconstructed: the red-draped tables, delegates' chairs, the lectern and a bust of Marshal Tito by sculptor Augustinčić are all preserved. The walls carry portraits by Đorđe Andrejević Kun. The permanent exhibition also includes the steam locomotive known as the Little Partisan, which ran on free territory in 1942 and 1943. The AVNOJ House and the locomotive are both national monuments of BiH.
