About This Landmark

Mosque with the clock (Abdurrahman Pasha Mosque)

Built in 1666 by Abdurrahman Pasha, this mosque is a precious monument of the Ottoman period in Albania. With its characteristic architecture, it represents the classic Ottoman-Balkan style and for many years was the spiritual center of Peqin.

The building has undergone many ups and downs throughout history, especially during the communist period when the minaret and dome were destroyed, but it was rebuilt after 1992, restoring some of its original values. Today, the mosque is a place to visit for its architecture, history, and the role it has played in the cultural life of the city.
